The Burien Collaborative centers the work of building partnerships with one another, leveraging resources, and contributing to the work of cultivating abundance within our community.
Our five primary organizations guide our shared objectives and practice collective ownership as it relates to leadership and decision making processes.

Our Programs
We strive to offer programs that meet the agreed upon needs that are identified by our stakeholding organizations and other community partners. As these needs change, so too will our programming. We are committed to being both responsive and flexible in how we approach our program offerings.

Our resource sharing meetings provide an opportunity for our partner organizations to build interdependent relationships with one another. We spend our time sharing about job opportunities, events, and other resources that the collective can access.
In addition to this, organizations also use this time as an opportunity to seek out advice and help from others, as it relates to particular challenges they may be facing.
There is always a Spanish interpreter present at our resource sharing meetings. Resource sharing meetings take place every other month.
-
Our capacity building workshops provide leaders with the tools to support the work of sustaining, as well as building the capacity of, their respective organizations. Our capacity building workshops are led by experienced professionals with numerous years of experience within their fields of work.
Some examples of past capacity building workshop topics are as follows: building an effective board of directors, transformative conflict, advocacy strategies, and much more.
There is always a Spanish interpreter present at our capacity building workshops. Capacity building workshops take place every other month, on the off month of our resource sharing meetings.

Our grant writing workshops take place one day a week over the course of five weeks, and provide individuals with skills and strategies to utilize in their grant writing process. Our grant writing workshops are led by grant writing professionals and consultants, Rosie Torres & Emily Westlake, and are done in small cohorts of 10-12 individuals.
-
Our affinity groups provide a point of gathering for individuals with shared experiences, with the hopes of building a stronger sense of connectedness to one another. We currently have one affinity group that is made up of therapists and mental health practitioners. This group meets to build their sense of community within their field of work, and to also discuss best practices with their peers. The mental health affinity group meets once a month.
